Matriarch is the first album by Veil of Maya to use clean vocals, which has caused some controversy among fans. Additionally all of the track titles for Matriarch are named after popular female characters from various Nerd media from Nyu being named after the primary antagonist of the Anime series “Elfen Lied” to “Daenerys” being named after Daenerys Targaryen from the A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones).

Veil of Maya is an American deathcore band, formed in Chicago, Illinois by members Marc Okubo and Sam Applebaum in 2004. The group is currently signed to Sumerian Records, have released five full-length studio albums and are considered to be a contributor in the “djent” scene.
