This past week has been amazing. Red Dog #4, Eclipse #7, and so much more just days after Houston’s Comicpalooza (more on that to come). After a slight delay, DC’s Button series continues, and rumor has it that it will lead up to the Countdown to Doomsday event. Looks like DC is working a pretty awesome long game. After a huge delay, Justice League VS Mighty Morphin Power Rangers continues with issue #4 (it’s about time). Meanwhile, Image celebrates its 25th anniversary and Spawn’s Anniversary with reprints of Spawn #1 and an array of Spawn variant covers for other titles. Marvel continues their Secret Empire with issue #2 and drops a new Luke Cage #1 and Generation X #1.

It’s never a bad week to be a comic book reader.

So, a lot of you aren’t aware that Marvel has been releasing most of their television shows on Netflix. With Daredevil and Jessica Jones we’ve seen quite a few other heroes. Luke Cage, Patsy Walker appeared in Jessica Jones, and Punisher and Elektra in Daredevil. For those of you who aren’t aware, here’s somewhat of a catch-up….

It’s been the buzz of comic book nerds for a while now, Luke Cage getting his own series. But, we’ll get to that in a minute. The bigger buzz has been the idea of a Iron Fist series. Daniel Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist possesses the ability to control his chi to heighten his senses, strength, stamina, healing, and to increase the density of his fists. Netflix has dropped the first look at Iron Fist at SDCC this weekend. Take a look….

For the big news of this story, you have to understand the characters of the Marvel Universe that are showing up all over Netflix. Jessica Jones isn’t your typical superhero. She’s an alcoholic, reclusive and she’s a bit on the heinous side. I don’t want to spoil the story so I’ll just drop the original trailer….

Luke Cage shows up in the first episode of Jessica Jones, and the moment he did fans began to ask when his alter ego, Power Man, would get his own series. Well Netflix just answered the question while at SDCC……

The biggest news of all, the tidbit that is taking SDCC by storm, is The Defenders series. In the comics, the Defenders were formed by Doctor Strange in order to defend the Earth from threats, a counter part to the Avengers, who were more of a strike force at the time. Anywho, Netflix has dominated the early days of SDCC with these trailers, and it wouldn’t shock me if this was the biggest unveil at San Diego Comic Con.
